Steps to easily install a privacy screen

People who value privacy on their balconies or terraces know the benefits of installing a privacy screen. This product protects against prying eyes and is also very easy to install. But do you know the steps? Don't worry, at Deco and Lemon we've got everything you need to get started. Let's get going!

Install your privacy screen by carefully measuring the surface.

Obviously, the first step is to accurately measure the area where you'll be installing the privacy screen . That said, at Deco and Lemon we always recommend buying a little extra to avoid running out.

If you opt for a double mesh for completely opaque concealment, you will need to buy the same measurements twice.

Tools for installing privacy screens

As you might expect, the second step in adding privacy screens to your outdoor space is to go to a DIY and gardening store , like we did. There you'll buy the necessary materials and start installing the screen from one end of the railing. Everything will depend on the surface (wooden fence, wire, stone, etc.).

As a DIY tip, we recommend that two people attach the netting. Otherwise, it may not stay taut.

How to install the privacy screen gradually

As you attach the netting to the fences or surfaces, you should secure it with the appropriate fasteners (wires, staples, nails, or cable ties). Ideally, use tensioners every 50 cm to prevent the net from billowing.

To do this, lay out the mesh and mark the points where the fixings will go. Then, using a drill, make the corresponding holes.

But what if I want to join different meshes?

No problem at all! If you want to join one privacy screen to another after you've installed it, it's very simple. Just grab the wires that already hold the rods of the first screen in place and, using pliers, secure them to the second screen.

Securing a privacy screen, the final step

Last but not least, you'll likely have some leftover piece of privacy screen. If so, simply loosen or cut the wires holding the rods together, remove the ones you don't need, and leave about 10 centimeters extra. This will make the screen more compact.

If the excess piece belongs to the top part, you can leave a 5-centimeter margin.

Ta-da! As you can see, keeping your outdoor spaces protected and covered couldn't be easier. If you're interested in this product, visit Deco and Lemon and get everything you need. We'll be happy to help if you have any questions!
